We believe health is a human right.

Improving health equity worldwide

Founded in 2010, the Global Health Program (GHP) at UCLA's David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) creates reciprocal, long-term collaborations rooted in equity, trust, and mutual respect. Students, trainees, faculty, and staff work alongside colleagues around the world on multidisciplinary education programs, clinical training, patient care, and research and public health initiatives.

Fostering the next generation of leaders

GHP prepares medical students and trainees to advance health equity locally and globally by providing them with knowledge, skills, and structural competency in global health. Through credit-bearing academic coursework, leadership opportunities, experiential learning at partner sites, and a gold-standard pre-departure health and safety workshop, students and trainees learn to make real contributions in the field of global health.

Where we work

If you are a UCLA Health/DGSOM faculty or staff member with an active global health project and would like to be featured on our map, please complete our brief survey.

It’s incredibly rewarding to engage trainees in global health education, and to witness how they are inspired and transformed by their global health experiences. We believe that exposure to how research and medicine are practiced in other countries ultimately improves the care that trainees provide to patients in the United States and beyond, and makes them more committed to achieving health equity globally.
