The definitions of the world’s regions vary among organizations, and are generally based on some combination of geography and culture. Below are the breakdowns we use to define the regions used in our EXPLORE database of global health and international activities at the David Geffen School of Medicine and UCLA Health. This listing shows the sovereign nations that belong to each regional breakdown; territories and dependencies will generally be included in the results for the governing country (for example, results for Puerto Rico would be included under United States).

Note that at any given time, the UCLA Center for World Health may not have activities in all of these countries. Please refer to the map on the EXPLORE database search page for countries with active programs.
